What is EMAS?

EMAS is a voluntary environmental management system within the European Union. The abbreviation EMAS stands for "Eco Management and Audit Scheme", also known as the European Union-Eco-Audit or Eco Audit. The EMAS-Regulation (Eco-Audit-Regulation) is crucial to the autonomy of economics in managing the direct and indirect impact on the effects on the environment.
For the voluntary participation of commercial companies in a communal system for the environmental management and the environmental operational audit was provided a concept for the first time by the European Union. With this concept commercial companies should be given aid to improve their environmental performances.
