Day-Care parents build willow pavilion

“such brushwood” or “from the high quality art of willow building”

To build a willow pavilion from a lot of “brushwood”. 65 day-care mothers and 2 day-care fathers from the Day-Care Centre in Salzburg (TEZ) met this challenge during the annual study that took place in the St. Virgil Park.

After a short time, one can already observe that the building from its enormous root and growth potential will turn into something living, that its form despite its stable structure will change over the course of the seasons. A willow building that is well taken care of - and that is secured by a group of disabled people of the “Lebenshilfe” (social welfare) in St. Virgil – can live for decades, similar to a tree.

We look forward to the possibilities, which the pavilion offers for imaginative use by groups as well as for retreats.
The idea comes from Susanne Altenberger. She planned and accompanied the project in the context of its commitment for the MenschenWerk Association. MenschenWerk Association offers promotion and basic stable conditions for people, for whom the job market is out of reach, due to psychological illness.
